Hi, I am Madhula!

Born in India, I grew up with animals & nature. There isn’t a time when we did not have animals around and our garden was always filled with plants and trees. No wonder I love nature and animals.
We did not have all these modern technologies or gadgets when I was a kid. So the only form of entertainment is playing along with friends or playing alone. My favourite indoor past-time was drawing – most of the days. It’s my best companion. My next pass time hobby was cycling outdoors :)!
Life went by and drawing had been a part of my life. In my school days, I kept drawing for magazines, and competitions. In 1995 when the computer industry was just booming, my dad gifted me my first computer. I went crazy with it and started to draw using the paint application on the computer (Of course played a lot of games too – right from the prince of Persia, Mario, Pacman, duke, doom, AOE, warcraft, diablo, c&c and much more!).
By end of my school life, when I had to decide between an arts degree and computer science, I chose to do computer engineering because it had a lot of scope and I thought I could use my drawing skills in animation or illustration or graphic industry. Even though I wasn’t clear about my end goal at that point, I definitely wanted to take computer engineering. In college, I continued to draw more. I drew for college magazines, symposiums etc. I also developed my own drawing and painting application.
After completing college, I had a chance to apply to companies along with my friends. I got an offer from one of India’s top IT companies within a month. I took the offer. Working in the IT field, even though I couldn’t concentrate totally on drawing & painting, I continued to be a part of the art club there. I posted my work on the company’s portal too. I kept weekends for my passion and continued to draw and paint. I also attended workshops whenever I could. After working for around 8 years in this great company, I had to quit my job as I decided to spend more time with my kids. At this time too, I continued to hone my skills. I learnt different styles of art and implemented them in my own way.
As you can see, drawing and painting have been throughout my entire life and will continue to do so. There were a lot of things going on around and each time a personal issue hit me, drawing and painting were my only relief and stress buster. This is the time I realized the power of art. I decided to teach my skills to someone in need. My mind shifted to helping people around to draw and paint. At the same point, my daughter and her friend were persistently asking me to teach them to draw. I started my own art academy under the brand “Madhula Creations” and started to teach. I have served many students now. I wanted to serve more people and that’s when I started my academy online. As kids, you might have drawn but somewhere in the middle, you might have left it completely – I want to rekindle your passion for drawing.
It’s very unfortunate that schools today are concentrating mostly on academics allowing such a wonderful skill to take a back seat. I also really feel sorry for the kids who are pulled out from art classes to use that time for academic tuition. Art is not only for hand-eye co-ordinations, it’s far more than that. It improves concentration, patience, and memory and recent research show it’s the fastest way to learn. It’s meditative and therapeutic.
To learn more about how art can help to heal, I enrolled myself on PG D in Art Therapy. This was an extensive study of Psychology and how art can be used as a tool for healing for people starting from simple stress to depression, autism, cleptomania, drug abuse, substance abuse etc. The list was exhaustive. My mind was blown at the way art can be used. This was a real turning point in my life where I understood and was able to connect the “WHY” behind how art helped me and how I can help people with the same. I became a therapeutic art coach.
It impacts the way we think, the way we connect with people, the way we connect with nature, and finally, it’s the way we connect with ourselves! And once this skill is learnt, it will serve you for a lifetime! You will be able to connect with the world around you better and believe me, the world will be a better place to live once you indulge yourself in art and with art.
My mission is to reach at least 100,000 people and help them to draw or to paint or to relax and de-stress with the help of art. I want to serve art to any discipline (no matter who you are), any background (no matter if you have gone to school or not), and any age (no matter if you are 5+ or 90+). I want you to enjoy the process of drawing and have fun painting. Live a relaxed stress-free happy life! Let me show you the power of art unleashing your creative side!
